“I realized then, and have known ever since, that there was something new to me in those eyes — something known only to her and to the mountain”

-Aldo Leopold, “Thinking Like a Mountain”

Hello, my name is Erica! I am a nature lover and artist who has called East Idaho home since 2019. I am passionate about ecological conservation and finding magic in the natural world. I made the decision to share my passions through tattooing in 2024 after years of following my career path in zoology, and dabbling in acrylic + watercolor painting. Previously my art has been gifted to some who I feel have been pivotal to my journey, and can even be seen on Forest Service property at Mesa Falls in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. I treasure the all the professional opportunities I’ve been lucky to have as a naturalist; and though I now work from home, my heart forever wanders through the lupines, paintbrush, and other wildflowers.

Throughout my experience as a veterinary, forestry, & biological field technician, I have carried a deep appreciation for the creatures that we share this bewitchingly complex and beautiful realm with, especially the imperiled, and continually vilified, keystone species- Canis lupus. I also recently rekindled the immersive escapism (I last experienced as a teenager) that comes with reading popular fantasy. Wanting to capture both of these feelings in a new powerful medium, I created Lupine Ink LLC.
